Who the heck are you, anyway?
Fair question... I'm Melinda Comerford. I have embedded myself within the photography industry since my first after-school job a ridiculous 20 years ago!
I have worked in both mini and professional labs, high end studios, small home-based studios, photography education, I've been a professional retoucher, graphic designer, run a wedding photography studio myself, and have won some nice awards.
I am an Accredited Professional Photographer, a Master Photographer, and I have volunteered with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) for over 10 years, and currently serve on their board of directors.
Last year I was honoured to receive the Claude McCarthy Award for "outstanding contribution to the photography industry", which was a pretty awesome moment for me, and something that has driven me to do even more for this industry I love so much.
So, what does M-A-C stand for?
This is a simple one - those letters are my initials! But don't think I'll tell you what my middle name is... I hate it, so I try to keep it hidden. Maybe if we meet in person I'll let you in on it...
Do I have to own a Mac computer to hire MAC?
Nope! While I do love my Apple products, we can work with whatever system you are currently using. As long as it runs the latest software, you're set!
Where are you based? Do I come to your office?
I'm based in Brisbane, Australia, but through the wonders of technology I can work with you no matter where you live on this wonderful earth.
If you are in South-East Queensland, I can come to your studio to see your setup and offer advice. I also regularly travel around Australia, so we can tee up a visit when I'm in your town.
I keep hearing about IPS... What is it?
It's a new acronym for an age-old technique: In Person Sales. It sends shivers down the spines of some, and makes people like me giddy with excitement. To me, offering your clients a chance to see you in person while they buy from you is the best possible customer service, and it increases your sales. This can be difficult if you don't have a dedicated studio space, but there are workarounds for any roadblocks you might have.
If the mere thought of selling makes you break out into a sweat, and you are based in South-East Queensland, I can do your sales for you! Or, if you'd like to learn more about how to do it yourself to create happier clients and increase your average sale, I can help you there, too.
What does "workflow" mean?
Workflow encompasses a few things, but ultimately it's about the processes you use to go from start to finish. It's a step-by-step system for how your studio does things, and it differs from business to business.
Your client workflow begins when an enquiry comes in, and travels through until the client has received their products. It can extend further if you regularly market to your past clients (which you should!).
A digital workflow covers the specifics of what you do from the moment you download your files from a shoot, through to finishing the edits and producing any products.
